Courtesan Shiratama from the Tamaya brothel (Tamaya no uchi, Shiratama).One of two prints (253) of a triptych, each with one elaborately dressed courtesan against an identical background of a red and green bamboo fence behind which are, on each print, a lamp standard, and a roofed notice board, each with 3 differing characters. A flowering cherry tree appears in each print as additional background to the courtesan, and identical yellow-flowering shrubs seen over the fence. Courtesan has outer kimono with a huge dragon design, and obi with blue and white circular design, each circle with a fern leaf motif on grey ground. Publisher: Ezakiya Kichibei. Kiwame seal.
