Alexander Cozens (1717 (c)-1786) Landscape with Figure on the Bank of a Pool watercolour (sepia and wash) Height 26 x Width 32.5 cm Alexander Cozens liked to use random blobs of ink to fire his imagination. He would then turn these into landscapes and other subjects. He has used a common picture format of the time for this scene, showing two hills overlapping in the centre with a distant view beyond. Alexander Cozens was very influential due to the drawing manuals he published. He was Drawing Master at Eton College, near Windsor, and taught many young gentlemen. TWCMS : H971
