Crown of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception from the Cathedral of Popayan, Spanish colonial Colombia. Made as a devotional offering to the Virgin Mary in 1593 for relief from a plague in Popayan. Includes the Atahualpa Emerald, allegedly worn by the last Inca Emperor; sold by Pope Pius X in 1915 to raise money for hospitals and orphanages. The gold bandeau set with 147 small square-cut emeralds with 8 larger square-cut emerald solitaires
