Tue. 03, 1953 - Jet Man Tells How Big Shot Him Down: The Pilot of the American Thunderjet shot down by a mystery Russian type MIG-15 yesterday, said today ta Wisenbaden he had seen unable to shake off his attackers., He said he tried to me throughout”. The pilot, lieut. Warren G.Brown, was on a routine patrol of the border separating the U.S. Zone of Germany from Czechoslovakia. With him was First Lieut. Donald G. Smith, also flying a Thunderjet. They said they were between seven and ten miles on the German side of the border when two Soviet-type Mig's intercepted them at about 13,000 fest. Brown baled out when he saw his machine has pretty well short up and the right wing was beginning to come apart.Photo Shows First; Lieut. Smith, on left, and Lieutenant Brown, demonstrate with jet fighter models at Wieshaden today how they were flying when the Mig's attacked.
