VENEZUELANS STAND IN FRONT OF CONCRETE TOMBS IN CARACAS, 1999-02-27 (photo)

Aura Liscano (L) with her two children Joan and Joandre, Meri Castillo (C), and Maritza Romero who had family killed by army troops in bloody riots ten years ago, stand in front of rows of unidentified concrete tombs where they believe their remains where placed, in Caracas February 27. The tombs contain 64 unidentified Venezuelans who were killed in the riots and buried in a common grave near the sight. Human rights organizations report more than 1,000 people were killed by the army during the riots. President Hugo Chavez marked the 10th anniversary of riots and looting in Caracas by launching a plan to use the armed forces in improving the country's infrastructure. KW/JP/AA
