Switzerland Press Tat Strike, 1978 (b/w photo)

On 26 July 1978, editors of the Migros newspaper TAT in Zurich, Switzerland, sold the newspaper with the headline “Schawinski dismissed! Roger Schawinski, centre back, editor-in-chief of the newspaper shortly before dismissed, is also present. The editorial staff of TAT under Roger Shavinski was striving for more critical reporting, which prompted the owner of TAT, the Migros Cooperative Association MGB, to dismiss Schawinski without notice. Additional tensions arose when the “Tat” employees founded a group of Swiss journalists and demanded a collective agreement. The employees went on strike and were subsequently all dismissed. The TAT has been suspended.
