Mariana Stanesei, the bookkeeper of the Sibiu branch of the Romanian central bank (BNR), shows the new 2,000 lei note issued August 2 in Romania to mark the last total solar eclipse of the millennium. The eclipse which takes place on August 11 will be the most visible from the territory of Romania, in the area shown on the back of the note. The 2,000 lei ($0.125) note is issued in a limited edition of one million copies and is the first polymer note with transparent parts issued in Europe and is for sale for 30,000 lei ($1.87).
