A visitor wears a yamulka as he passes through the newly-opened tunnel in the Old City whose opening this morning sparked Palestinian protests September 24. The tunnel starts on the Via Dolorosa in the Moslem Quarter and leads underground to the Wailing Wall in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City. Israeli Border Police fired rubber bullets to disperse the Palestinians when they began throwing stones over the walls of the Temple Mount towards the Wailing Wall prayer area. The 488-metre (yard) tunnel, according to the Israeli Tourism Ministry, takes visitors on a journey through 2,500 years of Jerusalem history. Palestinians are up in arms over the tunnel saying it violates the status quo on religious sites.
