Interior of Lord Raglan's Head Quarters. A Council of War (colour litho)
Interior of Lord Raglan's Head Quarters. A Council of War.
Coloured tinted lithograph, 1855. One of 41 lithographs from 'The Seat of War in the East - Second Series', after William Simpson. Published by Paul and Dominic Colnaghi, 29 August 1855. Printed by Day and Son.
Seated in the centre of the scene is Lord Raglan, with the Turkish commander-in-chief, Omar Pasha, and his French counterpart, General Canrobert, to the left. The respective French and British naval commanders, Admirals Bruat and Sir Edmund Lyons, are pictured to the right. The setting, which the published description of the print after this watercolour describes as a modest farm-house, served as the British Headquarters for the duration of the conflict.
