Mrs Rose Branwood, b 1904, age 81. She struggles to knit as she is gradually losing her eyesight. Her husband was killed in an accident in 1946, Rose is a life long member of the Salvation Army. 1985 (photo) This photograph is part of a project that was titled 'Oldham '85: Care of the Elderly', it was completed during the summer months of 1985. It was part of a series of photographs that recorded through portraits and interviews the lives of residents living in sheltered accommodation in the former cotton town of Failsworth, Oldham, Greater Manchester, UK. Sheltered accommodation is designed for people who are elderly or have disabilities enabling them to live independently, but may need occasional help or support. Brief excerpts from their interview are included in the captions.
