Armin Meili, centre, director of Landi 1993, explains a building of the Swiss National Exhibition on a model in 1939. The Saturday supplement 'Der Kleine Bund' of the Bernese newspaper 'Der Bund' published in its Saturday supplement an article by journalist Charles Linsmayer, which puts the ideological head and director of Landi (Swiss National Exhibition) 1939, Armin Meili, in a less than advantageous light. Meilis Memoiren apparently draw the picture of a demagogic democracy demonstrator, chauvinistic nationalists, militarists, women demonstrators, and convinced anti-Semites. It is well known that the Landi raised the myth of Swiss uniqueness to a maxim. What is new, however, is the realization that the national exhibition was organized and carried out by a man who was frighteningly close to the National Socialist ideology.
