Image description

In December 1944, General Henri Guisan, centre left, and also the Federal Councillors Rudolf Menger, centre left, and Pilet Golaz, right with hat, took part in the border occupation ceremony at the foot of the soldier data monument “Sentinelle des Margiers” created by Charles L'Eplattenier and erected in 1924 at the Rangiers Pass between Delsberg and Pruntrut. The monument - a tribute to the border guards stationed in the Jura during the First World War - is popularly called only “the Fritz”. It later falls victim to the Jura conflict and is torn from its pedestal several times. Even the ruins of the monument are still controversial today
