The Serai, Lakki, December 1915. Photograph, India, North West Frontier, 1915. Lakki was on the North West Frontier of India (now in Pakistan). The 10th Jats were among the soldiers stationed there during World War One to protect the border with Afghanistan and maintain security in the area. The 10th Jats were a regiment recruited from the Jat people of northern India and what is now Pakistan, particularly the Punjab and Baluchistan. Jat people are members of various religions depending on where they live; those from areas in modern day Pakistan are Muslim, while in India they are usually Hindu or Sikh.
