Judging a book by its cover
They say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover but with only seconds to captivate a casual bookstore browser, a stunning design can make all the difference. As well as cropping in on interesting details from paintings we are noticing a trend for distinctive montage designs using multiple images to create impact.
Here are just a few examples including the stunning design for the new Peter Ackroyd book, Venice Pure City which uses no less than eight Bridgeman images including Plan of Venice, by Odoardo Fialetti (16th-17th century) and Venetian Doctor during the time of the plague by Jan van Grevenbroeck (1731-1807).
