Now representing: Christian Furr

Bridgeman Images is now representing Christian Furr for copyright, reproduction and licensing

Christian Furr (b.1966) is a British painter, best known for best known for being the youngest artist to date to have officially painted the Queen Elizabeth II. He studied Fine Art at De Montfort University. Aged just 28, he was personally selected to paint an official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Furr's other portrait subjects include Dita Von Teese, Tim Henman, Esme Bianco, Gered Mankowitz, Thomas van Straubenzee, Lady Melissa Percy and Father Michael Seed.

As a result of the Queen’s portrait early in his career, Furr has built a devoted and ever-expanding following. He has exhibited extensively in group and solo shows throughout the UK, and a number of shows in the US. His work has been displayed in the Saatchi Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Royal Society of Portrait Painters and The Royal Watercolour Society. In 2015 he became a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Furr’s influences are incredibly diverse, with inspiration coming from many directions from poetry to film. As well as portraiture, the talented painter examines everyday objects and human emotional connections, be it a member of the royal family, an enigmatic couple, a flower, a still-life or a measure of cheese and is continually interested in experimentation and exploration of new concepts.

In collaborating with other artists, such as neon-artist Chris Bracey on critically acclaimed shows, Furr has broadened his own artist style. Whilst working with Bracey, Furr began to experiment with vibrant colours in his own works. In recent years his signature nuanced palette has expanded to adapt pure colour.
