Anneliese Everts (12 January 1908 - 19 October 1967), was a German painter and Graphic Artist. Best known in Solingen in the 1950s and 1960s. She was among the first West German female artists who brought out vibrancy and poetry to the post-war period. Evert's life was devoted to painting.

Everts worked for the Höhscheid city administration and the Solingen city administration from 1925 to 1937. She furthered her training in the arts at the technical school for metal design in Solingen with help from the painter, Eichenberg. Her career saw her work as a freelancer as a graphic designer and for the Solinger Tageblatt (the oldest Solingen daily newspaper). Anneliese Evert went back to study at the Folkwang School in Essen in 1937. Everts travelled extensively marking her first major trip to the Mediterranean in 1928. In the 1930’s she travelled further to Austria, Italy, Switzerland and the Baltic Sea. The landscapes of her travels were documented through multiple drawings and watercolour paintings.

Annaliese Evert’s artwork is colourful, bold and illustrative. She depicts figurative forms, still lifes as well as natural, beautiful landscape scenery.

This beautiful still life below has visible brush strokes creating areas of shading and light on the jug. The colour palette consists of mainly greens and browns. The fruits seem yellow and green in appearance sitting upon a decorative blanket. A strong composition is here as we look directly above this enchanting still life scene.

This colourful geometric composition resembles forms of houses in a cityscape scene. Browns, yellows and oranges create a sense of warmth and life. Square forms of white are placed amongst the composition, providing some colourful distinction. It is remarkable that Everts travelled through Europe solo at the time.

Lino Printing is a fine art technique whereby a printing plate is cut into lino. This creates distinct patterns as the lino is inked. The detail in this blue Lino Print is incredible, large fishes swim at the surface of the boat, waves of water ripple gently. A brilliant bright red sun contrasts with the blue sky. Two ships are sailing in the pale blue waters.
