A bust oval portrait in golden starred cloak of a close friend of Sir Thomas Lucy. A head-and-shoulders portrait, half left, wearing dark green habit with five-pointed stars embroidered in gold: as Elizabeth Einberg has pointed out (The Tate Gallery: Illustrated Catalogue of Acquisitions, 1982-84, p.23) this is taken from the arms of the Earldom of Montgomery, the titular castle of which was in dispute between Lord Herbert of Cherbury and Philip, future 4th Earl of Pembroke, after the conferral of the earldom on the latter in 1605.
