Watson, Harry drawing, watercolour and bodycolour on card, entitled Copse, Dunston Sussex, by the artist Harry Watson Sunshine filters through the leaves of the trees and dapples the white dresses of the children in this view. The artist has used bright transparent watercolour to capture the varied effects of colour and light within the woodland scene. Like many landscape painters in the early years of the 20th century, Harry Watson was very influenced by the work of French Impressionist artists, such as Claude Monet. Watson was a London artist and teacher. He specialised in landscape and figure subjects.
