Great Fire of London. The Great Fire roused interest in means of fighting fire. In 1672, a fire engine with a leather hose, capable of spraying a jet of water in close attack on fire, was invented by a Dutchman. Original artwork for illustration on p33 of Look and Learn issue no 245 (24 September 1966). Lent for scanning by The Gallery of Illustration.
