New York, New York: July 27, 1963. "Malcolm X, Black Muslim leader, holds up paper for the crowd to see during Black Muslim rally in New York City. In their rallies the Muslims, an African Nationalist organization, preach a philosophy of "hate the white man". The Black Muslims are one of the extremest groups within the Negro community. ". The above is the original caption from the Associated Press for the photograph which was to run on August 5th with an article by Junius Griffin.
