Blue plaque, John Logie Baird. In this house, John Logie Baird, 1884-1946, first demonstrated television. Scottish engineer and inventor. Commemorating the former site of Baird's laboratory, where he first demonstrated television, can be seen above Bar Italia at 22 Frith St W1, in the heart of Soho. It was on the 2nd of October 1925 that he finally succeeded in transmitting full television in his small attic laboratory. The first human ever to be televised in a full tonal range was a rather startled office boy, William Edward Taynton, who the inventor had snatched from the streets outside.
