Dadabhai Naraoji (1825-1917) known as 'The Grand Old Man of India'; 1st Indian Member of the British Parliament at Westminster, representing the London constituency of Finsbury Central from 1892 until 1895; Parsi intellectual, educator, merchant and Indian political and social leader; helped to found the Indian National Congress; in 1901 he published 'Poverty and UnBritish rule in India' an economic study showing that Great Britain was systematically bleeding India of wealth and resources; he called for a Royal Commission to look into his charges, and this was set up by the British, who included him as a member; in 1904 he demanded 'SWARAJ' (self government) for India; a mentor of Gandhi, who described him later as his 'real DADA'; illustration from the 'Graphic' magazine, January 17, 1914;
