Description
A woman wearing a blue skirt and red head covering bends over to attend to a cabbage field, which dominates the foreground. The field was located at the artist's summer house in Wannsee outside Berlin, where he completed most of his works after 1922. Liebermann had cabbages planted in place of flowers in preparation for food shortage in Germany during World War I.
