Lucien Herve (b. 1910 d. 2007), born Lazlo Elkan, was a Hungarian photographer. He is considered to be one of the greatest architectural photographers of the 20th century. He collaborated with Le Corbusier from 1949 until the architect’s death in 1965. Le Corbusier declared Herve to have 'the soul of an architect.' Herve moved to Paris at the age of 19, subsequently earning French citizenship in 1938. During the war, he became a member of the French resistance under the name Lucien Herve, keeping it thereafter. Following the war, he left politics to become a writer for art journals. He began experimenting with photography, inspired by the work of avant-garde artists.
